Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere<\/p>\n

Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture<\/p>\n

Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources<\/p>\n

The sustainable development goals are inter-linked and multi-directional. Sustainable use of the oceans is important to eradicate poverty and provide food security and nutrition for all. This is relevant in the following up of the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN declaration “Decade of Action on Nutrition”.<\/p>\n

“Everyone has the right to have access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food”, “Healthy marine ecosystems, sustainable fisheries and sustainable aquaculture have a crucial role for food security” (Rio + 20)<\/p>\n

“The CFS recognized the contribution of fisheries and aquaculture to food security and nutrition, as a primary source of protein and essential nutrients, and as a provider of income and livelihoods”. (Global Strategic Framework for Food Security & Nutrition)<\/p>\n
