IYAFA\u00a02022\u00a0can\u00a0also act as a springboard towards\u00a0implementing the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and related documents, like the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing\u00a0Sustainable\u00a0Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication, and take concrete actions towards\u00a0achieving the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/sustainable-development-goals\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>\u00a0as we enter the last decade of action to achieve the 2030 Agenda.\u00a0\u00a0It also falls within the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/family-farming-decade\/home\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN Decade of Family Farming<\/a>, the\u00a0two observances will reinforce one another in\u00a0providing\u00a0greater visibility to\u00a0small-scale artisanal fishers,\u00a0fishfarmers\u00a0and\u00a0fish workers.<\/p>\n<p>In the Global Action Network meeting in November 2021, FAO invited the Global Action Network to engage in IYAFA. It was suggested to partner with CFS and bring IYAFA into the next plenary and to establish a small working group to explore and coordinate. Participants from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and WorldFish volunteered to be part of this initiative.
